Scalp Micropigmentation

Scalp Micropigmentation

Scalp Micropigmentation, or SMP, is a non-surgical procedure of inserting organic-based plant deposits through the dermal layer of the scalp. These pigment dots replicate hair follicles and blend in with the client’s skin complexion. This gives the illusion of a fuller head of hair for both men and women with thin hair.

Scalp Micropigmentation is a great option for people experiencing all forms of hair loss. This includes those with:

The Treatment

The first session is used to lay the foundation of replicated hair follicles. After the first session, you will notice an immediate difference and a full look appearing. This is typically the most extended session, averaging 2-5 hours. The second and third sessions enhance the layers of density so you appear to have a full, short head of hair and eliminate any sign of hair loss. Most of the time is spent blending into your existing hair for a seamless and natural look. Small changes can also be done in these sessions if needed. Once the desired look is achieved, the results will last approximately 4-6 years before a touch-up is necessary. Since results will vary from person to person, a consultation with our 2x master certified SMP practitioner Lindsay Terrill is the best way to ultimately determine how many sessions you will need. Typically, a minimum of 2 to 3 sessions scheduled 10-14 days apart is necessary to achieve a complete look.

FAQs

SMP is a treatment that uses microneedles to deposit pigment into the scalp. The result creates the appearance of tiny hair follicles or short hair stubble.

Scalp Micropigmentation is for both men and women.

While we are able to provide some guidance regarding this matter, ultimately, this is a personal decision for you to make. Shaving your head has become very popular, and shaving your head doesn’t necessarily mean you need to look bald. SMP allows you to look clean and updated with the benefit of not looking like you lost your hair.

The treatment takes 2-4 hours per session. These treatments are spaced about 10-14 days apart.

The pigment we use is called Folicule. This is a diluted black, organic, carbon-based pigment. When hair is shaved, it appears as all one shade of gray, and we can dilute the black to match you. It’s all about color matching in a strong or softer tone, and we will work with you to find the perfect shade.

SMP should never be considered a one-treatment process. Most clients can expect between 2-3 sessions.

After completion of your treatment (2-3 sessions), the strength of the color is expected to last for about 4-6 years. Over time, the color will very gradually begin to lighten (not discolor). When this occurs, a brief “touch-up” session will restore any fading.

Yes, you will want to maintain the look of the buzz cut. This can be achieved by shaving the treated area 2-3 times per week. We recommend making it part of your morning or evening routine.

Yes – because the sun has UV rays, this will cause your treatment to fade faster, and that means it’s even more important to protect your SMP by staying out of the sun or with a hat and sunscreen.

No. This treatment typically lasts 4-6 years.

Yes, gray hair can still benefit from this treatment.
